My family: There are four humans in my family: my husband, Gary, and my two daughters, Abby (21) and Grace (17). There are two silly dogs in my family: Katie and Lucy!
What I Like to Do: Read, travel, spend time at the beach, hang out with my daughters.
My Favorites:
- Books: All the Harry Potter books, Mo Willems' Gerald and Piggy series, Charlotte's Web
- Food: Chocolate chip cookies and strawberries
- Summer Movie: Lion King
- Place: The beach, Disney World, Paris, Hawaii, Italy
If you'd like to know more about me, here are my answers to questions students sometimes wonder about:

If you'd like to know more about me, here are my answers to questions students sometimes wonder about:
1. What are three important things to know about you?
- I love reading and am excited to have a fabulous classroom library for you.
- I love dogs almost as much as I love kids.
- I will never be perfect, and I don’t expect you to be either.
- I’m really good at reading out loud, and I can’t wait to read to you every day this year! Be prepared: I use different voices for different characters, and my voice gets louder and softer, faster and slower, and if the character sings, I do too!
- The best thing about summer is that I get to spend a lot of time with my daughters Abby and Grace. Abby is 21, and she is in college. Grace is 17 and is a senior in high school. We especially love going out for breakfast together! Over the summer my family had very fun vacations at Disney World and New York City!
- I like learning about being a better teacher! This summer I read books and took classes that made me want to try some new things this year in our class--especially in math and using technology. These were wonderful learning experiences because I can help you learn better, and that’s exciting to me!
- My most favorite thing is hanging out with Abby and Grace (my daughters), especially if it involves being at the beach!
- I love to sit down and read a book in a quiet place.
- I like to read all sorts of things. Probably my favorite is reading novels, but I also like listening to biographies (books about real people) as I drive to school in the morning. I think it’s interesting to read recipes—even if I never make them!
- Well, I like pretty much everything about school! I’d have to say my very most favorite thing about school is spending time with my students. I like getting to know each student. I’m the type of person who loves to help others, and school is a great place for that. I like making all my students feel special.
- 8. What do you not like about school?
- I’m not a big fan of Level 0 in the hallway when we’re at our lockers. However, since it’s an expectation, I go with it.
- I’m also not overly fond of going to meetings—mostly because they take me away from my students.
- It helps me learn when someone explains how to do something and then lets me try it myself with her/him there to help me if I need it.
- Also, it helps if my teacher doesn’t expect me to be perfect at something right away.
- I wish my students would notice that I’m always trying my hardest to help them.
- I wish my students would notice that I always like them—even when I don’t care for their behavior.
- I wish my students would notice that I don’t get too worried when I make a mistake—I learn from it and move on. That's what I hope you'll do too.
- I learn best in a classroom where I have a choice as to how I show or practice my learning.
- I learn best around people who are helpful and supportive, not critical of me.
- I hope my students will be kind, friendly, and respectful toward each other and me.
- I hope my students will try their hardest and have a positive, happy attitude.
- My wish for this year is that all of my students will get excited about something we’re learning.
